Do TCM doctors do blood tests?

I find it strange to have patients coming to my clinic to ask me to perform blood tests for them so that they can check whether their cholesterol levels are adequately controlled by the Chinese Physician's prescribed herbs.

The patients also tell me that the Chinese physician never asked them to go for a blood test. It's their own initiative.

Do Chinese physicians do blood tests? If not, how do they monitor their patients for glucose control, cholesterol levels etc?

I think I should just not think so much and just be happy that I have business and profits from doing blood tests for TCM physicians.

Uncle Oz, in reply to your questions on the previous entry:
1) yes, most health care professionals are entitled 1 month's holiday.Very good right? ;p

2) I am not sure the exact rules and regulations.According to my dentist friend and myself, we do refuse to see the patients.I've refused quite a few for several reasons: racists, pain in the ass sort people and ham siap ones.

*sigh* I don't know how well I'll cope when I get back home. -_-

I think you'll do just fine flatfeet.

Don't worry too much about it. When it happens it happens.

Cheers!

Huh?

You do blood test? I think you extract the blood and send it to the lab?

Patients are really stupid. They can go straight to Sata or any one of the countless labs to do their test and cut out the middlemen.

TCM physicians have other methods to determine indicators of their patients' health. What do you think they have been doing for more than 2000 years?

It may pay you to read up on TCM methodologies because the trend for the population to rely more and more on TCM is inescapable. Who is keeping some of our senior leaders alive? TCM of course!

Aiyah that was what I was trying to explain to the lady!

But she insisted that I take her blood for her and send it to the lab.

She also insisted that I "explain" her results when I said there was nothing ot explain! It's either high, within range or low.

I do read up on TCM. And I was telling the lady that from what I know, you don't need to have a blood test done at this stage or your TCM treatment.

She just refused to listen or believe me and wanted things done her own "quack" way.

I'm beginning ot realise I should just "go with the flow" and say what all these uneducated ah pek and ah mah want to hear. Just agree with everything they say whether right or wrong and take their money. In fact they will be much happier.

I'm too straight lah. Should learn to be a bit more scumbag and slimy.

Sigh

I always said you're too straight, nice and honest to be a successful doctor.

You should have attended theological college instead of medical college.

I think I trust you better as a priest than as a doctor.

Hee Hee.

So you think I should be a bit slimy?

How is your GP like (the one with the MMED Int Med)?

A bit sneaky too? I need a good role model leh.

Sometimes I do think I am too straight, too good to be true and overly nice. Damn , I should tell those aunties " yes auntie, you can wear those high heel shoes if you insist they are comfortable to wear."
Knn.

uncle oz, you have my empathy :)

uncle bladie: Sometimes being too nice is just part of our character. What to do, we are just born with it. Unless you willing to train us to be a bit more 'skanky' (scumbag)

OZ,

He probably isn't that straight or honest with his OTHER patients but not with me.

You can't fool someone who had been fooling fools 20 years before you, can you?

You want a role model? Where do you normally frequent other than your own blog? Hee Hee. The NET has tons of role models to choose from.

Wa, uncle baddie baldie has lots to learn from you in this department instead of the other way round!

When you come back from OZ and OZ bloke is still in Singapore, I'll conduct a one hour seminar at the Intercontinental Lounge free of charge to both of you on "How to be Rich without being Nice and Straight"

Is that a date?

Actually it's just very strange lah.

The ah ma and ah pek and aunties can't tell the honest guy from the con man. In fact they like the con man. They believe the con man and tell the honest man he is wrong.

Maybe it's a Singaporean thing? It's damn easy to con Singaporeans? Cos they are so stupid?

No wonder every elections the MIW never worry lah.

Ok lah! Set! I going to give what the Singaporeans want.

They want to be scammed.

You different lah uglybaldie. Say what you want, you are not a typical Singaporean. No matter how hard you fight and say you are one, you will never be one!

LMAACO!

OZ,

Please do not antagonise the Ah Pek and Ah Ma because they are going to fill up your rice bowl in the years ahead. Fellas like me is not going to be a big revenue earner for doctors.

"No wonder every elections the MIW never worry lah."

And Doc. can you resist the temptation to make political innuendoes against our beloved leaders?

I don't enjoy the luxury of your being able to emigrate ok?

LMBBO!

You don't get what I'm trying to say or maybe you do. I'm not sure.

Basically today I "antagonized" and ah ma because I told her the truth and the right things when she wanted to hear the lies and wrong things.

I agree with you I think I should stop "antagonizing" them. But the thing is these ah pek and ah mah will probably die earlier that way leh. If you get what I mean.

Oinkle,

Before I relax with a Jack Daniel and my DVD movie, here's a remark for you before you feed Mitchelle and turn in for the night.

"A fool is born every minute."

Okie Dokie,

Good night.

Good morning OZ,

Wa, friggin' good movie.

While brushing my teeth this morning I suddenly realized that you named your hamster after "flatfeet".

How come, you know each other before meh?

What's the topic of your new post today?

How about commenting on Mr. Dudley Au's letter on the ST online forum regarding the lack of empathy and the human touch of some doctors who perceive patients as just a digit above the door to their room in the clinic?

You answered it yourself.

"A fool is born every minute."

Hmm
As what I know under TCM, they do have this technology call a live cell analysis to look at a drop of cell to determine if there is high radicals or like high cholestrol. They does it in the clinic using a microscope and connected to a something like tv. Anyway if those patients insist on lab test, then jus do it if you cannot convince them, like u say give u money earn. And what's more, go with the flow, it is easier. If u try to convince them otherwise, u will get high blood pressure soon.
haha
